It is important to note that the host institution may require a small tuition contribution from students, equal to the lowest rate charged to local students receiving a study grant from the Flemish government. For 2026-2027, this rate is €136.50 per year, with slight annual adjustments possible.

Eligibility Criteria

The Master Mind Scholarship targets outstanding international students who wish to pursue a full-time master’s degree in Flanders or Brussels. Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Academic excellence and strong motivation to study in Belgium
  • Acceptance into a master’s programme at a recognized Flemish higher education institution
  • Ability to fully commit to the programme for the entire academic year(s)

In addition, there are scholarships reserved for students from certain priority countries: Japan (3), Mexico (3), Palestine (2), and USA (5). If these reserved scholarships are not claimed, they are reallocated to the next highest-ranking applicants from the general pool.

Application Process

Each Flemish institution can submit a maximum of 20 applications for the Master Mind Scholarship. The selection is competitive, so applicants are encouraged to prepare a strong application highlighting their academic achievements, leadership potential, and motivation for studying in Flanders.

It is crucial to note that the Master Mind Scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships such as Erasmus+, Erasmus Mundus, BAEF, or Fulbright awards. If a student loses the scholarship, they will be responsible for paying the full tuition fees to continue the programme.
